Amazing Race to the Louvre
Submitted byMegan Ruwe
My husband and I made a quick 24 hour trip to Paris via the “chunnel” to celebrate New Year’s Eve during a vacation last year. My husband hadn’t ever been to Paris, and he said he wanted to see the Mona Lisa at the Louvre.
Unfortunately, the Louvre would be closed on New Year’s Day (the next day), and our train would arrive in Paris with only 40 minutes to spare before the museum closed for that day. We bought tickets for the Louvre and Paris Metro at Waterloo station in London (with our MasterCard), and when we got off the train, we ran to the Metro, then darted through the Louvre, fighting the masses who were leaving for the day, and arrived at the Mona Lisa with 2 minutes to spare. My husband was able to (briefly) enjoy the world’s most famous work of art, and we have a great “Amazing Race”-like story to share about it.
